Again something stupid from Ptuj

Today I received a nice spam message from the incumbent Mayor of Ptuj. By nice I mean: crap. By incumbent I mean: he lost my vote. This is my vengeance.

I don’t hate you as a person Štefan; you probably cook a great steak. I’ve seen your lettuce. I hate your political tactics. I hate your political sleaze. However, I’ll give you some credit because sleaze is a synonym for the title you’re vying for.

I hate the fact that you wake up in the morning — stumble down your stairs — and take your 90 second morning (mourning?) commute to work while passing the most dilapidated part of the city you’re trying to keep control of. It’s a tough walk — those 50 meters into the Center — but yet you keep your pride. I promote you to Mr. Čelan on that eyes down, feet forward bravery alone. Oh, and one of your remarks towards “the other” candidate during your televised debate was pure genius. Allow me to paraphrase (this is hearsay) your argument to The Luci: “You want to see a shit town? Step out of your fancy house and come live where I live”. Genius. You’re now Dr. Čelan in my books too!

I remember you. I remember the “clean the city” day. I remember seeing you walk past my wife, 1-year-old daughter and I while we cleaned “your” town. You were carrying a fresh bag of lettuce you purchased at the market. Great stuff. Keep it clean but keep it green! “I proudly eat lettuce while you toil!” would make a great slogan.

And I remember New Year’s last year. You graciously substituted the community firework celebration for a social lottery. Great idea! So admirably charitable!  I completely get you. I do! Handing out cash to the Carnival performers 6 weeks later was okay. Sure, 50k€ is good for a show to an empty audience and the local people forgot about New Year’s anyway. So, yeah, screw them! I completely understand.

I don’t want to dwell on the negative; that’s just too much fun. Let’s talk about progress. I have an idea. It’s something in me; it’s something built into me. You have rodent teeth that chew incessantly on the cultural future of your town; I have this idea. I’ll share it freely … I’m also a jerk.

Make local people happy first and other people (aka: the $$$) might actually like to stay for a visit. They might like 2012.
Oh, and stop with the bullshit; especially the spam.

Fin.

Note to political spammers: attaching a Word document that is a dozen lines of plain text: Bad. Not using Bcc: very bad.
